A Lecture by Rutherfurd Hall Historian Joan Leckie Salvas

After a sold-out crowd in April, Rutherfurd Hall is pleased to offer a special encore presentation of FDR’s Long Goodbye, a moving historical lecture by resident historian Joan Leckie Salvas.

Step inside one of New Jersey’s most storied estates and uncover the deeply personal story of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his enduring bond with Lucy Mercer Rutherfurd — the woman who once captured his heart and quietly returned in his final days.

Drawing on original research and rich historical context, Salvas brings new perspective to Roosevelt’s legacy and the final chapter of his life, which concluded with Lucy by his side at Warm Springs, Georgia, in April 1945.
