About the Community Garden

  • Total Plots: 38

  • Plot Size: Each garden plot is 40 square feet

  • One Plot Per Gardener: To foster a strong sense of community, each gardener is allotted a single plot

  • ID Name Tags Required: Since the garden is on shared grounds with a school, all gardeners must wear a name tag while onsite. This ensures security and helps gardeners connect and build connections

By tending to our plots, keeping shared areas clean, and helping one another, we contribute to a vibrant and inspiring environment. Garden Guidelines & Expectations

The Rutherfurd Hall Community Garden in Warren County, NJ is built on the principles of teamwork, respect, and shared responsibility.

Gardeners are expected to:

  • Maintain their plot by keeping it weed-free, harvesting regularly, and respecting neighboring plots
  • Only plant seasonal crops—perennials are not allowed
  • Share resources when possible and help fellow gardeners when needed
  • Clean up after themselves and others to keep our shared space beautiful and safe
  • Keep garden aisles clear—do not leave tools, supplies, or other tripping hazards in pathways
  • Put tools back before you leave—leave the garden better than you found it
  • Participate in seasonal cleanup efforts, especially at the end of the season

How to Join our Community Garden in Warren County, NJ

Signing up for a plot is easy! Follow these steps to reserve your garden plot:

2️⃣ Provide payment (details below) to secure your reservation
3️⃣ Once registered, check below in “Garden Plot Availability & Assignments” for your plot assignment
4️⃣ Stay updated—check this page for plot assignments and garden events

Plots are available and assigned in sequential order on a first-come, first-served basis*register today!
*Note: returning gardeners have the option to use the same plot as last year.

Payment

  • Seasonal plot fee: $50
    Due by or before May 2

  • Security deposit: $50
    Due within 10 days of registration
    (refunded with proper cleanup in Dec. or roll over to next season)

  • Payment Method: Currently accepting cash or check (payable to Rutherfurd Hall)
